hmmm so idk how to feel about this. i mean, part of me loves it a little cuz it’s gays in new york in the 90s but it’s also so painful, and part of me hates this cuz of what kain was like in the beginning. although i rlly am happy with his character development, i hated that mel got hurt so much. ik it’s obviously normal for characters to experience events cuz it helps them develop but i just felt so much pain for him it hurt. i won’t say this wasn’t a beautiful, bittersweet story, but it was very melancholic. i rlly like when mel met kains parents, their wedding, and when they adopted their daughter tho. overall, not a bad read but can be a very over the top with how the author treats mel. there are better reads but it was for its time (1995)

that r scene was horrifying but i’m glad he author knows not to show it in such detail like other authors do where they sexualize it. this scene was truly horrifying in the implications of how violent it was rather then showing us everything. i rlly hope authors will actually start doing this instead of sexualizing rape scenes
yk i remember when i used to like this and then i remember when the author put rape and unnecessary toxicity
