It depends on several things:your height/weight, if you’ve eaten, your natural tolerance, etc. Tbh I doubt you’d fall flat on your face from downing one drink, but idk, maybe he only drinks beer that has 2-8% alcohol.
It might give you a buzz but generally you won't be wasted after only half a cup, especially if it's a mixed drink.
