Really? cuz it felt like a whole lotta nothing. You wrote a pathetic unlikeable asshole and a male version of Yui from Diabolik Lovers. Dan leaving wasn't even satisfying cuz you already had him fall in love with his abuser (for no valid reason) and he mentioned when he left there had good times (fucking what?!?!?!). Feels there was legit no progression of the story or characters and this is supposed to be the halfway point?!?!!? This story is just such a downgrade from her previous work it's almost baffling, considering BJ Alex was by no means without faults. Also you can write a toxic character without making them a sex offender and abuser

...Lucky Paradise, Don't Mix Business with Pleasure! and Mayday Mayday Mayday all have toxic leads. It's lazy writing in my opinion if the only way you know how to write a toxic character is through making them rape and abuse others.
Also it's perfectly fine to enjoy the series BUT you've got to admit story and character wise it's trash. People defend this series as though it's peak writing. I watched all of Vampire Knight (manga is worse) and Diabolik Lovers back in the day and I know those series were trash lmao

OMG thank you! Everything you said is valid, I think the same!
The fact that the author says "I like toxic top, but apparently some readers don't feel the same " makes me think she really didn't understand the critics. Darling, I too love stories with a toxic top, but here the characters of jaekyung and Dan are super badly written just like the scenario !
Personally, I loved BJ Alex, and for me it's a very good example of a well-written toxic top with a beautiful redemption arc. So I don't understand why the quality of Jinks is so bad.
Another good example of a toxic top is Killing Stalking, where the relationship between the two characters is clearly predator/victim (with a Stockholm syndrome). But despite their clearly toxic relationship, the characters are superbly written and endearing in their own way, in the sense that you understand why they do what they do. There is rape yes, but the rape scenes are written as rape, and not 'sexy hot sex with a sexy bad boy' like in Jinks.
And yet I'm a big fan of rape scenes when they're well written. But it seems like the author is trying to gaslight us by making us believe that the rapes are 'hot sex'. A simple way to rectify this ambiguity, in my opinion, would have been to put more emphasis on the fact that Dan is clearly delulu. That his love for jaekyung, his naivety, his lack of experience, and the power inbalance, prevent him from seeing how abusive the relationship is. But I don't think the author emphasizes it enough. And it would have been nice to have jaekyung's internal thoughts from time to time, because we have literally NO information on his way of thinking, his emotions etc...

I didn't even mention the power imbalance in their relationship, thank you. When I see people act like BJ Alex was as toxic as Jinx I honestly get annoyed. Jiwon said from the beginning they'd be fuck buddies and Dong-gyun agreed to it because he had a pre existing parasocial relationship with the Alex persona, making his love way more believable, even when Jiwon was such an asshole. Dong-gyun overstepped boundaries when he almost fucked Jiwon's lively hood when he got drunk. Dong-gyun also had a spine unlike Dan. Dong-gyun walking away was far more satisfying and well written.
My comment has a lot of dislikes but I haven't seen a valid argument why people are so passionate about this series and treat it like it's top tier literature.

Yes, they are victims for sure, there is no doubt in that - Dan was trapped because of the money for some time and than by his sense of loyalty (I think? I don't read it that carefully tbh xd). And even if it was just emotional, I do not want to blame the victim for staying. But realistically - he should be able to tell that what happens to him is plain wrong and twisted and there was nothing good not even in the beginning. Not thinking that there were good times WHEN THEY ARE JUST SITTING DOWN and for once Jaekyung is not a pissed off chihuahua (like bruh if he at least did actually something good). Why did he think of that and wasn't reminded of at least one of the other absolutely psychotic incidents..
You know what I mean?? He left because he thought Jaekyung and the team were mad at him not because his client is a fucking lunatic xddddd
And honestly I was kinda hoping Gwonryeon was gonna be the ml rip but so far I'm loving all the characters and their interactions
I also can't really be mad at him ... until now he actually didn't do anything bad so I dont want to assume things and I still don't give up the hope that they all end up together
