There wouldn't be a Hansel and Gretel if you removed a Gretel, it'll only leave a Hansel (which makes you think of biscuits) and not the children's tale itself. Without that there would be no interesting plot and it'll turn out to be a plain old boring repetitive story plot of a mary sue witch x random child she saved in the woods she met XX years later romance story.
