I have read the wn ages ago, so I may be have forgotten quite a bit; so please correct me if i'm wrong. However, I do remember the mc being quite naive for quite awhile. His innocence caused everything to go the way they went. If his mindset changed at some point, his actions and all the events would have also changed drastically; I believe this was also explained in the wn later on as well. He does change at some point tho, like a trigger. However, I do agree that it took awhile; it was a slow development. Also, I disagree that it ruined the whole story, for me it was just a slight bump, I didn't really mind imo; the side characters kept him pure and did most of the dirty work, so I can see why he won't change easily.
TLDR: Yes he was naive for quite awhile, but if he wasn't, this would be an entirely different story. I believe that his naivety was purposeful and reasonable. I dont think it ruined the whole story tho imo, it was still enjoyable to read.

You are probably talking about the chapter named Raidou/Makoto breaks. That single chapter caused the translator website to reach the highest volume of comments up til that time. That single chapter gives the MC makoto a serious enough reality check that he could have decided to screw them all.
To be honest, I dont know what comments the topic starter meant, because the person making those comments must be reading an entirely different novel. ┑(￣Д ￣)┍
If anyone wants spoilers on this topic, here is some basic concepts - the author has actually created some in universe story elements that explain what could have happened if Makoto became some kind of wanna be edgelord. It was very unpleasant. These story elements farther juxtaposes the other 2 MCs/the Heros crazy endeavors that causes severe complications/harm to the world they are in if Makoto wasnt there.
I guess that just means some people dont really "read" the stories, except to pick elements they like and pretend the rest doesnt exist. (〜￣△￣)〜
