Have you read Boku no Hero Academia? It's plot is not as intelligent as this one's, but it's very good and most of the (20+) main characters are really likeable, even if it usually takes you some time to get used to the drawing style.

I'm not sure but this is how I interpret it for now. I guess Eperia saw Meredith as the savior because it was because of him that humans gained magic to protect people. Blow was the one who caused the world to turn into chaos because it was him that caused the Mark of the Contract to dissipate and now magicians are loosing their magic and the world turn into chaos.
