I love the fact that renge is like a naive virgin but if you think about it, ok he likes Shirou and all, but like... he just does what he likes and tried to get out from his comfort zone, like from the glance ppl can say that his whole personality is about his crush but actually he embrace the fact he likes him and he only back off when he thought that he can't be with someone like Shirou cause he can't "share" him with anyone else, he deadass was like "open relationship or poly is not for me" and walk off.
He has a maiden heart but not entirely dumb, the reason why he's okay with this relationship is cause he just wanted to be with Shiro, like maybe Shiro think he can't live without him and easy to manipulate but then again Renge just does whatever feels right and good for him, not in the way "oh you can manipulated me" more like "no bitch, i actually do it cause i WANT it"
A naive character like Renge is someone who's pure by the heart but not in a way that make you feel annoyed and feels like you want to rip your hair off everytime you talk to them, but more like "let me protect you from the world" and they'll be like "nah, it's okay, I'm okay (=・ω・=)"

So my theory(?)is true... Byul is not even "dumb" as what ppl claim it to be, he's the type of person that when you give them an explanation about the concept or the "big picture" they'll understand it immediately, i actually have fun teaching people like this LOL cause it's also a challenging thing(?)to me to come up with different approach and when they actually understand, they'll understand it for forever, not like things that you read before your exam and you immediately forget after that xjsnbsjsndjd even though they "forgot" some of things, if you give them a trigger, they'll eventually remembered it again.
