If I remember in the novel correctly the bottom wasn’t no longer at the mercy of the top when they decided on this type of relationship he definitely wasn’t a blushing whimpering idiot, i swear he was more colder and the top was an asshole but he was hiding his fear that the bottom would leave him. The bottom was definitely not acting like this in the side stories novel… this adaptation is taking liberties. It was hella tense in the side stories between the two of them and complicated the bottom was lonely and conflicted, whilst the top was scared that he would come home and the bottom wouldn’t be there one day, this just skips right past them and removes a lot of stuff just to get to the sex part. Thats why the MC seems weird.
Were Ash friends raised in a barn? Who has multiple conversations about an Ex whilst being introduced to your friend’s current boyfriend in their house no less? Seriously, they clearly have been having multiple conversations behind ash back and also directly with hazel. If hazel doesn’t have ash contact details why give them to him without ash knowledge? Why also not ask ash about his relationship status prior to the party anyway why would “bonded” partners not have each other’s contact details, They obviously knew he was in a relationship as they all were clamouring to meet lyle at the door when first introduced. Ditch those untrustworthy gossip mongers, they clearly discriminate against alpha x alpha relationships despite the fake pleasantries.
I still can't get over this. They are NOT his friends and they completely disrespected ash's current partner...in their own home to top it off.
Maybe revenge isn’t a common thing in korea, so they can’t ever write it properly in their stories. South korea is extremely competitive the weak get eaten alive, its better to join the elites or betters or society tosses you aside.
There must be a reason why weak MC are the norm in their stories.
The alpha is horrible for the sake of just being horrible, thats it that’s the sum total of his purpose. He could have easily had a normal approach with the omega and formed a relationship, there was literally zero reason to kidnap him… just a very odd plot.

I don’t quite understand why people are saying a redemption arc of him begging or grovelling will suffice? The author couldn’t dream up a plausible reason for them to enter a normal relationship with love if they tried. The ML is a psychopath with no empathy and the MC has zero self worth. Neither of them are capable of being in love with anyone else let alone each other. You can’t love anyone if you don’t love yourself and you can’t love others if you lack the ability to empathise with them. I don’t understand how author forgot these basic things when writing the characters. Dan is fine and as a character he can grow and find self worth and courage. But the ML is simply an irredeemable maniac.
The psychological damage alone wouldn’t even allow for a relationship on any level whatsoever.
And obviously the author was so high of drawing the abusive porn they forgot that they wrote the ML into a corner and now lazily just copying and pasting the same dynamics from BJ Alex when characters had to change to progress the relationship.
The toxicity is not whats shocking or even a problem it’s just the sheer arrogance of writing such a crap plot, with crap characters. I dunno man i feel like author-nim needs to be humbled it shouldn’t be acceptable to shill out gold plated crap.

The author cannot build up a romantic relationship at all between them and it really shows through and through. Like 85% of scenes between them were smut, 10% was JK being an asshole and 5% was of JK doing the bare minimum and somehow we are meant to believe that Dan fell in love with the guy in a plausible way when all we remember is the smut where the only saving grace is the art cuz their sexual chemistry ain't even good.
For this relationship to seem plausible either of those characters have to be re-written completely: Either JK gets toned tf down and maybe still is a bad but not all around abusive and is atill able to grow as a person, just give him more complexity OR imo the funnier route make Dan a little asshole bastard with a bunch of backbone but only towards JK, like Dan is an angel to everyone else otherwise. You have no idea how fun this story could be if it was mutually toxic yaoi instead.
Or if it was a psychological thriller story where Dan gets out of this abusive relationship and then learns the way assassinating your ex which is how he meets a better not abusive boyfriend and then they bang consentually after having murdered and disposed of horse face. Honestly I should re-write Jinx out of spite like that some time lmfao

Damn the author is giving interesting commentary on society and work places practices through the Mc and his dialogue with others. Quite interesting i like that.
How the author managed to pull a 360 on this so smoothly is interesting it went from brutal to comedy. It’s quite funny reading it now.
At least his past abusive behaviour is mentioned several times and not skipped over like it didn’t happen and the ML himself is the one who brings it up and acknowledges his wrong doing. Most Bls just act like it never happened post redemption arc…
