I think theres 2 outcones to Mincheol's change:
Because Orange Head was bitter that he was consistently a good person and nothing turned it right he tried to make Haesoo the same. Probably inherited the debt, gave up on his dreams, everyone he thought he helped and was friend's with turned their backs on him, and felt neglected by Haesoo. Turned to whatever bad habits that helped him feel better, more alive, and justified it to himself that Haesoo didn't care; that she was just like the rest.
Or
All along he was doing his best to build a big facade because he lived off the popularity, the reputation, and Haesoo helped add to it. She was something he deserved and helped build him up and since we never saw the full expression on his face as he "blushed". Man's was probably getting off on his conquest. He looks awesome fighting a bunch of guys, and saved her from bullies because she would be damaged goods. Setting himself up for a big grandiose life that never came into fruition and just like in the other theory his life fell apart. Since Haesoo was a conquest and wrapped around his finger he stopped caring and put no effort because he grew complacent.
Either way I only see 2 different outcomes and based off what I've seen happen in other stories it's probably the second option.
I get the translation is bad but I'm able to make out what's happening just fine. I havent been confused about whats happening and the only real probablems have been pronoun inaccuracy. The story's dialog is pretty straightforward. For the record though the translation is worse then Google translate someone is intentionally making the translation heinous.
As much as I think ChungMyun is a good leader i don't he's the best suited character to be a Sect Leader. It's almost impossible to hold him in check and even with crazy character growth i don't think he'll overcome that. He's only held down by the fact there are people above him that he respects, as well as a healthy dose of peer pressure. I know he's trying to change and made hella improvements, but I think he's better off being a loose cannon who represents the sect. As well as an advisor who pushes them outside their comfort zone rather then just leading them. I think he should be trusted and respected, he's normally right after all, but that by itself aren't the qualities needed.
I think BaekChun would be better suited(at least as they are now there's obviously still a ton of story left and room for growth) to be Sect Leader. Man's always has a healthy dose of skepticism towards ChungMyun's shit but has very quickly known when to take a step back. As well as, in this chapter, he's shown he can still acknowledge that despite ChungMyun succeeding he still scared the hell out them and voiced it. I also don't think strength should be the deciding factor of who runs the Sect.
That said if ChungMyun continues to grow further and sees his peers as equals he would definitely have a fighting chance to change my opinion on the matter.
The author draws female characters very small as well but they look almost normal (keyword almost cause it's def not quite). I know they like small ukes but it's as if they're incapable of drawing smaller males so they take the tits off their chicks making them look even more like kids. The author definitely has an artstyle problem they need to work through because none of their characters look particularly pleasing to the eyes. Sometimes they look fine, but their more masculine characters look weird. Even the ML looks awkwardly soft in some pages that the author couldn't hide, even when they tried to overcome it by fucking with the face length and jawline.
The uke and other feminine characters (even across their other stories) look fine for the most part they also stay pretty consistent. Though I'm starting to think the author might have some other underlying...issues. I have my own problems with art being that every character I draw is definitely female coded. But you can tell when I'm drawing a child v. adult. I just really like drawing the female form so I'm better at it. Since I draw way less men in general my default is female with more masculine features so I have to work really hard to make them less feminine.
What I'm getting at, is the fact this author is suspiciously good at drawing "small" characters compared to the inverse. I say suspicious because one could kinda argue their females almost look like adults. But female characters have bigger eyes, smaller frames, and the only real difference in animes that separate short females from children are the boobs. So it's not as noticeable if they looked child like. Applying what i know about learning to draw i think this author might mostly draw children. Obviously I'm not going to claim this is fact but this author definitely has habits you get from drawing the same thing over and over again.
There are ways to make short, petite, male characters not look like children. Even when the concept is a pretty twink. It's a fine line to straddle but it isn't super hard. So the fact author has made a few different stories now and hasn't learned how yet is making me doubly suspicious.

If it were me my leg would've never been broken cause (๑•ㅂ•)و✧°•MONEY•°~
So I don't feel too bad if at all ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
