I think good stories don't necessarily need to have morally good characters...if it makes you want to read more then that's a good story in my book...

I know, but it doesn't always have to be bad character -> good character, right? It could be bad -> worse also...as long as it makes you want to read more...

100% it gives us a unique taste. The traditional bad -> good is cool or whatever. But gives me rollercoasters. Give me something newww
Oh I understand, I was just stating that, in general, character development is what the people are here for. We all want to see how the characters we love face their challenges and how it may or may not change them, and how they will continue on afterwards (๑•ㅂ•)و✧

self absorbed? it's her own death that she's worried about. ofc she's going to despair if it turns out that her efforts were for naught and that she was unable to prepare for something completely unknown to her. I'm just waiting to see her collect herself again and this moment of weakness doesnt make her a self absorbed person.
Yeah...please tell me if i forgot, but why in the world did she marry that guy anyway? If she really wanted to live, she should have declined the marriage proposal...it's not like her family is poor or in debt or something...she inserted herself into the narrative herself...from what i remeber, no one forced her into it...her dad was like hey wanna marry the emperor and she was like yeah sure...and now she's like this...and being in her head is so stressful...she just thinks of the same things over and over again...it's triggering my own anxieties...haha!
She may be able to decline, but remember, scenarios like this, is you will have a hard time declining the royalty, it will ruin your family's name.. you cant just disagree with the emperor.. it is not in modern time that if you disagree with the emperor you will go scot free ╮(￣▽￣)╭ hard i know...
If their family was significan enough to be chosen as the in-laws of an emperor, they should be powerful enough to decline the order...aaand from what i remember, the emperor didn't want to marry anyone but the nobles made him so he set those rules and the FL was the only one who accepted the...it wasn't really an order...
