I haven't read the main story, Kiss me liar, so don't actually know about the series' other characters. But your response further makes me question if the author took inspiration from the targaryen family. (≧∀≦)
KML is not the main story for this, they are part of the same universe, but the Millers have their own series, the males all got/ get a novels. KML and KMIYC are adaptions of novels. The most recent one is Grayson's, the webnovel was finished last week.
Targaryens? Don't know, because all the dominant/extreme alphas have purple eyes and are in one way or another psychopaths.^^
Is reading the main story (kiss me liar) important to read this one? Can this be read own its own?
You don't need to read KML before reading this.
KML is not the main story to KMIYC, it's part of the "...if you can" Millers series which shares the same universe. It's just has a few overlapping events with Yeonwoo, since it takes place around the same time as KML. And some characters appear in both stories.
