I'm genuinely concerned for MC. Cause the king is absolutely off his rockers. I didn't feel this sense of dread in a while. Of course, his appearance adds to his behavior, which makes it more uneasy. Looking at him, you can tell there is something off with him. I'm glad he doesn't look like the typical beautiful male character. It separates him from the rest. He stands out from all the other characters in this. I Hope MC somehow gets away, but I doubt it even if he does I hope something interesting comes out of it.
Me too… Like the king is so unstable that he’s capable of one day snapping and killing Sam-myeon. I don’t see how they can be together not even stocklhom syndrome can justify this. Since it’s calle the heart of the lotus and that’s Sam-myeong maybe there’s hope of an scape, someone else who’ll be the endgame. If not maybe a reincarnation arc or Sam-myeong will be so broken that he will completely give up and surrender to this misery. I mean he’s practically blaming himself for something that’s not his fault at all.
But at the same time he’s so strong willed that I don’t see or I want him to just give up. The king is too unstable and calling him a black flag at this point is an understatement. I hope they both get a peaceful ending because as fucked up as he is…He clearly has mental health problems and I can’t even imagine how it must be for him inside that brain. I can’t help but feel for him a bit in that aspect. HOWEVER it does not excuse what he’s done and hopefully he will be hold accountable for it
Yes, I am in total agreement with you. I really like how MC is very strong-willed but has a flaw in looking at the good side that doesn't or no longer exist. The emperor's behavior isn't his fault and I hope he realizes it in the future.
Yes and because he looks for the good in people I don’t want him to end up doing so whenever he finds out what happens to the ML or if there’s a coup de tat (he’s overthrown by his people). I don’t want him to feel pity and stay with him so I have hope Sam-myeong will see him for what he is and free himself or if someone offers to help him, he says yes.
The main couple gives me the ick. Has the body of a 20-year-old but the mentality of a 10-year-old. Doesn't know right from wrong and has been through too much at this point that it could continue to stunt his mental growth and make him even more dependent on Kinnard. Idk what to make of it. I've been told it gets somewhat better. The side piece Yexing and Shahid. They had a couple of red flags that made me uncomfortable, but I was able to read through and they had a couple of cute moments so i was wondering what happened to make Yexing to act like that towards Shahid until that one "scene" came.
I let out the damn biggest sigh known to man. If I was Yexing I would not want to be near that muthafucka for the rest of my life. The fact that Shahid continue to harass him years afterwards pisses me off. On God I hate that son of a bitch. Why? Why can't I have a wholesome relationship for once without any rape? Why is this trope so prevalent?
And to you muthafuckers that tell me "if you don't like it then dont read it" or "then cry about it" yall make me sick to the core to think shit like that is normal and just a small "obstacle" for the relationship. You're allowed to criticize a medium that you like or don't like if you read/ watched it. Don't take it as a personal attack. The tags said romance and historical so I expect that and of course i expected for some messed up things to happen. But not in the relationships themselves. The art of course is beautiful that it makes my inner artist jealous.
Ive read a lot of manhwas/mangas and its infuriating how popular it is cause it isnt romance its horror. Yexings and Lous reactions to it and afterwards are the main example. If it had more accurate tags like psychological and horror alongside it then I wouldn't be as pissed cause at least it acknowledges that some of the themes here aren't for the faint of heart and I would have accepted it.

I come in peace. Just wanted to clarify and give food for thought.... Lou isn't mentally a 10 year old. It's that he only has the education and mannerisms of a 10 year old at the age of 20. Think of the difference between an adult with the mental disability who cannot learn or function past that of a 10 year old, versus a 10 year old who survived in his own in a forest for ten years. His mind functions as an adult. He just didn't get the fine tuning people get like editing what they say to the situation. I do agree that his trauma heavily weighs on him, but it's not like Kenny ignored it and just started jumping his bones. Kenny repeatedly said no and gently made boundaries for Lou to stop his advances. Kenny only gave in once Lou clearly stated his understanding of consent and what it means to be intimate. Their relationship is far from perfect and I get you having fault with them, but they can't be held to today's understanding of trauma and mental health. This story takes place about a 100 years ago. I hope you are able to give them a little grace. Kenny did the best he could with the knowledge he had.
Raman and Yexing... I don't think Shahid is a monster but I do not deny he's messed up in big ways. I was quite disappointed in him seeing that. I felt grateful when Kenny punched him because it felt like I got to punch him too. I can understand a bit how it happened, and I can understand how/why Yexing forgave him.

I wish some people could have the amount of maturity you have shown in your reply. I do try to give the benefit of the doubt to see the characters progress, but if a certain amount of chapters go by with no change to one's actions and words. I think you would understand that it does get tiring and a bit repetitive. I feel so much dread for Kay. I saw something in the comments about a bowl. But decided to ignore it. But oh god it's bad. I already didn't like the duke as a character I thought he looked very different and beautiful from other leads. But that's all the compliments I could spare cause I found his character to be vile. It's the same trope as many other mangas/man has, which is disappointing. I could not warm up to his character not just for his actions. It is because of how the other characters reacted and thought about him, especially Kay.
He justifiably thinks the duke is a terrible human being, the sweet moments they share feel gross because moments before the duke does something awful against Kay's wishes. Everything he does that could be seen as kindness does not feel genuine because he always has a selfish motive behind it. He does not care for people unless it serves him. I said a quiet "Oh no" to myself when that bowl scene came up. Imma continue reading it just to see how it ends, but it won't mean I'll feel good about it.
It's like witnessing a train wreck but unable to look away. Sometimes I wonder why I torture myself. Idk why this hit me so deeply. Maybe because I found Kay to be a relatable and likable character despite him being so frustrating when it comes to combat and needing to be saved at every turn. because we miss out on who these ppl are and why they act the way they do, their relationship seems to remain the same (abuser n victim) even tho The Ziggiest Zagger does kinda fall in love. this is kinda looking u in the eye when Zigina forces Kay into marriage, and mc agrees on the sole basis that he literally cannot conceive (unfortunate pun) of any other option. I don't think I'm pulling this outta my ass cuz he reiterates his sense of helplessness in relation to his agreement of marriage when Zark Zuckerburg was like: I think ur trying to run away from me, but that's not gonna happen cuz who would take ur sorry ass in? everyone knows I'm the alpha emporer, and they don't want to see my angy wolf form. MC responds actually agrees with him for like the 3rd and last time in the book,as he's like "yeah I'm fucked fr" Zigrunt still does not consider mcs autonomy nor actually ruling his kingdom.
I personally feel like he is in love, but is just such a large dick that he himself gets in the way of expressing or even thinking like non Geneva convention breaking thoughts towards kay.
