You have stories like Under the Oak Tree where Maxi thinks she has to be the ultimate sacrificial warrior to on Riftan’s respect, and then you have stories like TAHTB where husband and wife communicate to better themselves for each other.

Yes! I agree with the both of you! I adore how their relationship grew... they respect and support each other and try to communicate as best they can. I also needed a break from oak tree so put it on pause, the ML was too much and the FL needed more (haven't read in a while though).

its a really slow process since its going according the novel so you need a lot of patience but comparing how someone deals with their trauma to someone else is a bit ignorant tho
