You know what, hell yeah actually, Ms. Sayoko is a bit suspicious but she's gorgeous and I'm downbad for rich dominant women so I'mma keep reading this. It's actually not as terrible as I thought at first, it's definitely no masterpiece either tho.
MILD SPOILER AHEAD
It's still ongoing with 4 volumes so far btw, I saw the cover art for one and it features Meari and another woman (it kind of looks like her friend who has a boyfriend) in a somewhat suggestive pose so this might turn into a love triangle/toxic yuri relationship?! Can't wait to see!
Honestly don't know what exactly I expected considering the cover art being... what it is lol. Shit's kind of ass ngl.
By the way, is sugar dating considered prostitution/sex work? Not trying to be disrespectful or anything, I'm just a bit confused about it ngl, if anyone is knowledgeable please educate me!
Sugarism is not sex work at all. Most of the time the sugar mommy/daddy just wants companionship and rewards the companion by supporting them financially or giving them gifts. It can also be romantic or sexual but its definitely not prostitution or sex work. They would often times discuss the terms of the sugar relationship before meeting(ie what they both are looking for), attention, companionship, intimacy, or romance. Sex has to be something thats agreed upon prior to the act from both parties.
If it was sex work, the term you would be looking for is a pay pig, they spend money on people specifically in return of some sort of sexual gratification like being degraded.
Prostitution is prostitution, the prostitute gets nothing from doing this and the people they meet are randoms, they typically are trafficking victims or groomed into being pimped out. The money typically doesnt go to them and they dont prostitute because they want to.
I didn't know know the definition of prostitution just changed lmao.
"Prostitution involves engaging, agreeing, or offering to engage in sexual conduct with another person in return for a fee."
What you are talking about is sexual, slavery, human trafficking, exploitation etc. This has nothing to do with prostitution.
dawg what. Thats not what I said at all, are you illiterate or intentionally being bad faith and quoting things that I never said?
I was explaining three separate things and their definitions. The difference between Sugarism, sex work and prostitution.
My third paragraph explains what prostitution is, absolutely no where did I say that prostitution involves any sort of agreement, I LITERALLY said prostitutes gain nothing and are trafficking victims that are pimped out.
My FIRST paragraph explained that Sugarism is something that the parties involved agree upon.
Im replying to you since they actually blocked me lmao
I was quoting the actual definition of prostitution to debunk their take on it. I'm not surprised they didn't realize that since they have no idea what prostitution/sex work is.
They are conflating prostitution or the modern term sex work, with actual sexual slavery and human trafficking. All they do is spreading harmful stereotypes.
Oh and btw while it's true sugarism is not automatically seen as sexwork, it can still lead to actual prostitution or sexwork the moment both parties negotiate and consent to sex being part of the deal.
Tltr
Prostitution = consensual sex with compensation
