Yeah and as an art student myself. The whole copycat thig makes me cringe, since there are people like that. I wished that through character development he'd stop but it doesn't seem to be happening.

Yeah I'm getting really confused as to what the point of this story is... Its only labeled as shounen ai but I don't even think its really that. I mean, shounen ai kind of as a genre means that thats what the story is about, a relationship between to boys...but I can't tell what this story is about! A sad kid with no personality that steals and copies? Is it about his inner thoughts and development as a character? Is it supposed to be about their relationship? Is it maybe just supposed to be a creepy story? Its hard to tell what I'm supposed to be getting from it.

Lmao sometimes I think people never watched thriller or psychological horror movier, the point of the story is not " Hey everybody is okay to rape or kill " but to show how the mind of a psychopath, assassin works and if you love psychology it will be interesting , and killing stalking makes everyone uncomfortable but the plot is good and unique, I don't think rape is okay but let's be honest here if you are kidnapped there's 3 things that can happen 1- You die 2- they ask for money 3- they rape you and kill you and she just portrayed this reality if people are sensitive and can't read it then don't , I'm not disrespecting the author so I have the right to give my opnion and honesty I have no idea whats going on here , the begging was interesting but no development in the character as someone said and if that's the case I don't wanna read it, as an artist he should know that is not okay to copy someone work, we are not talking about a kid but a guy that is an adult and is pursuing a career as an artist! Even if you are insecure and shy it doesn't mean it's okay to do that it makes me cringe so it's uncomfortable to read but I'm not forcing you to stop reading just have my opnion , when i said everything I was also referring to his behavior copying the style, the perfume and I had a friend that was exactly like that, she would copy the way I talked, my dreams, my IG feed, my clothes, my music .... so is cringe in my opnion ╮(￣▽￣)╭ it brings me creepy memories, but if you like it is okay

Thats definitely an element, but its clearly revolving more around the stealing aspects and weird behavior of the mc more than romance. I know romance comes more in the later chapters, but it doesn't feel like thats what the story is about, you know?

~ Me thinks that Jo Yohan actually knows or already notices what is happening, and he finds it fascinating. What i am trying to say is that : when a person we like imitates us and our preferences, we find it cute, funny, and adorable; But on the other hand, when a person we dislike copies us and our styles, we all find it irritating, rude, and downright creepy. Althroughout the story, John finds it amusing and amazing tho because he likes Se min, and he likes him better that way.

~ it was not done with malice tho, the author must have been showing us the readers how pure his appreciation of Jo Yohan, and how Jo Yohan loves Se min for it.

~After all, it is always Jo Yohan who assertively initiates the contact on the passive Se min who wants nothing but to be like his idol.

Let's face it folks: We are all inspired by each other; All of our ideas are inspired by the things surrounding us. In one way or another, we all copy and imitate others as we make them our idols and role model ... and thats okay because we all need someone to look up to in our lives.

I don't think you understood my comment. For all intents and purposes you have indicated that you seem to find this story more uncomfortable than the ACTUAL* stalkerish behavior of the dude in Killing Stalking? The only reason I can come up with is a horrible one having to do with the rape apologetics of the latter so I am hoping you are going to eventually address my comment thus proving otherwise after all.

*Yes actual because there are only two instances where Semin copies, rather than plagiarizes, his work. The definition of plagiarism inherently EXCLUDES work that is tweaked to make it the second person's own. Which Semin does. Both the art (yes there are two incidences of art 'copying' we could talk about here but the one I am obviously focusing on is the one where we KNOW he's using John as inspiration) and clothes. The art incident was clearly a copying of movement rather than the art itself BTW. As for the perfume it would only be one instance and a very negligible one at that. I mean people copy those types of things from other people every day and as a standalone piece, as it must be, it isn't very compelling evidence.

I am greatly interested in Psychology BTW which is why I DON'T like Killing Stalking. There are a number of people after all who would be considered psychopaths but keep very much to themselves. Excusing rape just because someone is a psychopath is very much in agreement with rape apologetics especially for that reason.

Horror is often too overstimulating for my brain precisely, for one, because it too often plays into those same heteronormative stereotypes and antiquated gender roles.

Finally, the last poster on this thread said everything else I wanted to say far better than I ever could.

Its ok to copy from time to time when just starting out as an artist, but he's a university student, he needs to start thinking about his own style that appeals to his own concept. He even copied someone elses theme/concept.
A concept/theme is one of the most important things you have to come up with as an artist, it requires a lot of planning, and motivation. You have to care about your concept not just choose it becuase you want to stalk your crush.

Ofc I know not all psychopaths will rape people, not all psychopaths are murderers I would be stupid if i said say that. I don't think you understood my comment at all but even if I tried to explain you will never get it, KS is not even Yaoi to begging with it and liking psychology has nothing to do with agreeing with someone's thoughts but observing it , yes I don't think horror is for everybody, for every action there's a reason behind it and we observe that .
i know you were referring to my original comment when i said " his stalking behavior is not even like killing stalker ♡, or any thriller /horror story that makes your love the psychotic mind of the character" because that's the truth the characters are actually build to be like that, the story makes sense, the personality of every character makes sense you expect them to act in a certain way but what about this manga ? The guy know is wrong to copy but he still does that and will keep doing it as the name suggests but why ?. See the thing is when you get inspired by something while creating your own you don't hope that you won't get caught by your teacher, that's not getting inspired is just changing a few things and copying it,you make a mistake once not twice , if his behavior were just that okay he would be someone just doing something wrong but he listens to every conversation so he knows how to act, he changes himself and he doesn't even realize it . Both mangas are uncomfortable for me if you didn't get it or thought that I indicated something now you know , but one is supposed to be creepy and make your shocked but this one here ... I don't know what he is supposed to make me feel as a reader ,both stories are very very different and if you didn't get it this one is an cringey kind of uncomfortable .

Copying is only okay for practice. Many professionals practice by doing copies of masterworks. But what isn't okay for any level of artist is copying and stealing and passing off ideas as your own, even for beginning artists. Sure, study styles and different things by copying work you want to learn to do, but you should always give credit and never try to pass it off as your own or profit off of it.

Haha that's okay! And no problem, I just hoped that if any young artists were reading this chain of comments I should mention it. I know I was a little confused about what counted as copying and stealing when I was younger. I never copied from other people because I thought it was bad, but when I got older and learned about transcriptions I learned that it can be really useful to recreate and copy work to better understand it. The real distinction comes from intellectual property.
