Yeah I think Miu's really a flawed character in that sense (which is a good thing IMO). Its almost like she feels a sense of obligation to protect kids (maybe cuz she abandoned Lau and she feels like she has to make up that?) but she doesn't feel that same sense towards Tan because she still perceives him as having agency even though he quite literally told her he didn't.
