It is chapter 10 and I can already see how quality the writing is
Not only do we for once have a well-written and designed personality as our MC but you can see the layering in emotions she's feeling here
1) We have that whole crow doused in flour thing where she feels like an imposter to her situation
And no wonder since these sudden magical circumstances have suddenly appeared and she has no idea if it's too good to be true.
2) This leads to suspicion she feels about the crown prince and hence her disliking being called 'her highness'
She has no idea what the prince's motivation for marrying her are. She's still in a state of unrest right now because she's merely switched from one insecurity to another. She doesn't know what these man's intentions are, nor how long the goodwill from him will last.
I know we all know princey is a babygirl but she doesn't know that, and we all know how monsterous men can be - who knows what he wants from her. She has a poor background and no former relations with him - it's very suspicious, personally I'd be very afraid.
3) She feels extremely unsupported by her family because a. none of them see any red flags in this situation b. they are hedonistically squaloring money that they don't deserve and it's money she can't even be sure is safe to consume c. none of them care about how she feels they're just happy that they don't have to be economic anymore - and it's even worse because when they were poor NONE OF THEM even properly acknowledged the harshness of poverty because Courtney was busy lifting that burden for all of them
To be honest, Courtney probably wouldn't leave her family behind if they weren't FOOLS. You can see this when she looks at her nephew. It's genuinely a really beauitful thing to ground your loyalties on a child and it's a strong reliable one too so hopefully knowing she's doing this all for her nephew helps our girl get through these trying times.
