Girl was taken from the man she loved and given to a random stranger as a war trophy, and people are blaming her for not being happy even though the guy was… an ok husband to her after the fact? If someone kidnaps me, and buys me expensive things, says nice stuff to me, and doesn’t mistreat me after I say mean things and hit him….that doesn’t make him a good person because I’m still not there by choice. I don’t get why people are talking about him like he’s some green flag white knight golden man when all of he issues stem directly from the fact that he forced the marriage against her will and then (because he knew she justifiably didn’t like him because of it) never communicated any of his emotions for her. She’s been throwing tantrums for years because she felt objectified, and it took less than a 5 minute conversation affirming that he actually saw her as a person for her to warm up to him. The bar is in hell

She wasnt even kidnapped, from the start she hated him and called him all sorts of things just because he was a mercenary who wanted her…
Yes, technically he had her father’s permission to marry her and the legal rights to control her that come along with marriage, but how is that any different than taking someone and holding them against their will? At no point was she ever willing to be with, or marry him. It just so happens that her opinions don’t matter in her society. It doesn’t change the fact that she’s essentially being held against her will. If he had broken into her castle, tied her up, and forced her to take vows in a church at knifepoint the only real difference is that her family wouldn’t have been complicit in her objectification. Her level of input and consent (definitive lack thereof) would be the same in both this hypothetical, and the actual scenario that end in the same place. Sure, she was arrogant and snooty from the beginning, but she went off on him because there was an awkward/stressful situation combined with the fact that he was touching her. And again, how is being classist and rude to someone anywhere near the same level as forcing an unwilling person to marry you? I’m not saying she’s a perfect little saint, but she is 100% the victim here. On top of that, she was acting out because she was upset that her life was ruined so she could be objectified as a war trophy. All it took was a single confirmation that he actually cared about her for her to accept the relationship, and this was in spite of his very toxic and aggressive behavior right before. What was he doing for 4 years that he couldn’t even build up to or hint at that reality? She was so easy to win over that it really highlights how little effort he must have put into actually communicating his feelings and building a relationship with her.
She does not deserve him lol
I agree
