This is starting to be one of my favorites and we're only at ch 21. It's so refreshing to have an actual intelligent MC that doesn't scream cliche. Not to mention that young princess. She's smart too. It's one thing to know she's doing what she's doing with the empress dowager because MC told her to do it. It's another thing to take note about the lack of true care the empress dowager showed during the encounter. The princess knows she's doing this for survival and her trust in the MC is starting out to be her saving grace.
From the spoilers I've read from NU, MC is no damsel in distress. She has actual brains to maneuver herself given her circumstances. I'm so glad this has a manhwa. I still hope the novel somehow gets translated too.
I've dropped this so long ago and decided to take a peek but it just didn't get better. Somehow, I understand the ML better than the MC. His motivations started as political and he gravitated towards someone who had more political power back then whereas redhead was a pushover and people pleaser. I would have been more forgiving if MC hadn't been so obsessed with the divorce trope and played politics too. It would have been a far more interesting story if it happened that way.
tbh me too I get were he’s coming from, I also get why the mc is a bit reluctant to trust him, because she only saw him as a tyrant and asshole, the story does get a bit boring or cliche(?) Idk how to describe it cuz I stopped reading after a while, I do like the emperor from what I read so far and I think they’ll be cute together. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
But the story doesn't do anything interesting with its "politics" I put politics in quotes because the most the story has done is "she bought dirty foreign slaves.....BAD because foreign", and "this ugly fat old nobleman sexually harasses women and she kicks him in the dick" oh and let's not forget "woman tries to introduce kimichi and mochi to not europe-like country (how'd she make it/get it who cares) but they don't like it until our perfect mary sue badass MC convinces them". It just never goes in depth or thinks about the trickle down/ ripple effects or it's just the bad trope of "ugly old fat guy sexually harasses or attempts rape because he's ugly and fat and or has a moustache" or it just tells the reader what the effect is instead of showing it or it's effects like you'll get a flavour text like " now everyone likes mocchi and kimchi" (how do we have asian ingredients? are we in good terms with a fantasy asia? Do our transmigrators ever feel homesick and wish to return to their culture?) or "he was disgraced than banished for his misdeeds"(we never know who gets his land, estate or assets but it's expected) but I dropped very early around the "slave buying husband jealous of slave" section so if anything happens after that apologies..

Dude got so embarrassed by what he said that he ran away (≧▽≦)
