They're both so scarred by their trauma but MC helping out in a way that she planned to help herself out as a child feels a little poignant to me. The fact that MC planned to find ways to get out of her family speaks volumes. We saw a glimpse of what she went through. She really had nobody to ask for help when she was that age.
Hero complex, by definition thanks to Google-chan: recognised psychological state where a person believes they cannot fail and that they have to 'fix' everyone else's problems. It happens when someone thinks they are limitless, incapable of being exhausted by anything, and usually have no boundaries.

Another big thing about people who have hero complex, is they thrive on recognition or accolades. I feel that the readers who see hero complex in his actions kinda cheapens who he is as a person.
He's quite open, easily makes friends due to his diverse travel experience, is confident, knows what his calling is in life (traveling and teaching kids in a way that reflects his wide knowledge of culture and languages), speaks his mind, and goes above and beyond for friends, family, and loved ones. He's not as simple as I portray him but I wish people don't see negative stuff that isn't there.

I....hate his mom. Like a gut-wrenching loathing that makes me wanna slap her.
