I do like the concept of an OP character done this way. I understand why he can't relate to the power struggle. He's literally THE pinnacle of power among the ability users. Bar none. It's interesting how he doesn't understand the need for sparring and proving oneself. He's never been in a weaker position before.

The only 'hounds' I could think of are the harpies guarding Sisyphus and making sure he continues his eternal torment. Interesting if it does go that way.
Where'd my reply go? I mentioned that I was wrong. It was king Phineus who had the harpies so my theory is kinda moot. Unless it's a mix of mythologies it would make sense.
King allowed the shitty ex to annul the engagement because he wanted Cyrus to be King. In his mind, the MC is the ONLY candidate fit for the role. Much to his relief, it seems Cyrus is in love with the MC. Hitting two birds with one stone.
Allowing the MC to come back like this as a royal decree makes it so that even if the ex complains, he has no real power to remove her from that position. PLUS, it showcases to the others just how capable she is and how terribly suited the other woman is for the tole of Queen. Again, two birds with one stone.
