ok hold up i got a theory
so we know that xin is doing whatever to free lau from that contract and bla bla and considering the story of the prince or whatever it was where the knight escapes and the demon prince is held back is an analogy of lau and xin. maybe that is foreshadowing but it would be too bland to have that as an end. what if lau is the one that dies to protect xin and to give him a normal life that he so desires?
