Alright, this was Hak's first time l ading troops. He's had to fight closely to Yona all his life. He's doubting himself, he's worried about Yona and the dragons. He's still fucking young. And my heart goes out to him.

It's a common practice in some countries usually within families. Say a sibling lost their child, their brother or sister that has a few or many children allows the grieving family to adopt one of theirs in the hope to help them and strengthen the family. The child is mostly raised by their aunt/uncle's family while knowing that their parents still love them very much.
Though in this case it's not so much of a loving gesture.
