Tbh I don't think Heebum even had a thing for men. It felt to me he mistook affection for Love, coz he didn't know what to name it. I would've liked if the author emphasised a bit more on his sexuality.
I think hb loved yw but whether it was platonic or romantic i honestly don’t know. I think that he's someone that was so desperate for love and to be someone’s number 1 that he would have accepted anyone that gave him that kind of affection whether they were a man or woman.
