He means that the original curse would no longer be there if it wasn't for kahils mental state which keeps dragging the curse on for longer than it should've been on there.

I have mixed feelings about this extra ending.so from what we saw,i still didnt understand shit about ymir but the rest is understandable as we see that mikasa got married to jean and had a kid,when to visit eren,time passed,she's a granny now and has a large family,then we see she dies and is buried alongside eren with her scarf on,and we see that with development,war continued and civilization developed and fell with the wars,the tree become a lotta big.personally i prefered the other ending,as mentioned by someone below,when if it was painful,we liked it but this one is more in depth of the human nature which eren had become aware of,as he only killed 80%of the population to cripple the rest of the world so they are not able to go to war with paradise so that as long his friends are alive,they live peacefully but still it was good
Oh i forgot to mention how the end looked like the beginning of the titan,seeing at person ending up at long ass tree with a whole in its roots kinda thing
