In the novel it’s carsel or something like that

Many Spanish readers have mentioned this. The official Spanish manhwa translation changed his name to Carsen. For everyone else, it’s Cárcel.

He was given that name intentionally by the author. See author’s explanation below:

As for Carcel, she stumbled upon it when looking at a dictionary. The name Carcel Escalante was thought of like a pun to match with the early regression she came up with in mind because of how he's someone willing to always climb back into prison (so if that's the case, the actual prison the author had in mind is Ines whom he is always willing to climb back to). Esposa was just a coincidence. She chose that because she was looking for names that sound Spanish and chose that. It was just ironic that name meant wife so author-nim took that as fate.

And if it is the plural "Esposas" it changes the meaning to "handcuffs", it's really crazy lol

So he would be Jail Scaling Handcuffs or Jail Scaling Wife?

I think it’s supposed to be Cárcel Escalante de Esposa and the meaning is something like ‘one who willing climbs into the prison of his wife’. Only those who have read the entire story with all the revelations would understand why the author went with that name.

i’d say it’s inconsistent in quality but it’s usually readable give or take some parts/chapters

It must be this one chapter's mistranslation, bc it was always stated as the uncle in prior chapters (moreover, the grandfather would've been the previous king, so to steal his fiancee the current king would've had to have overthrown him or sth, and that would've made the current king more infamous than the "Princess of Bats")
