Okay, its been a while since i've last read this manga and the plot's kinda fuzzy now, plus im too sleep deprived rn so could someone please explain what in tarnation is happening

"Hikaru" is not the mountain spirit "head snatcher" just some rando ghost that made Hikaru's wish come true by becoming "Hikaru". Some holes have opened up to "the other side" making a highway for spirits to just pop in. Yoshiki got a rock infused with the dead spirit of Hikaru's ancestor to act as protection against the dead. They now have to close up the path ways.

Idk if my brain stopped functioning midway but i seriously have no idea wth is happening can someone explain why those animals with faces came to be and why those sdf or spf people can turn into jumen

SPOILERS
The zoo was literally a testing ground and experiment lab for the longest time. They wanted to do studies and research regarding giving animals human like features and vice versa for humans to have animal features.
The animals came to be through constant injections of a virus after multiple experiments. The virus itself can spread via blood within animals, but whether it's zoonotic is something not said or shown yet. And those caretakers can turn into beasts as well with a similar method. However it took a long time to achieve and perfect the injections they make, hence many of the failed cases of humans found in the latest chapter (44). Even then, the injections to turn themselves into jumen is highly concentrated and they couldn't maintain their humanity. Originally they went back to that underground (?) place i think to get those injections to turn into beasts.
In short:
- zoo is a coverup for an experiment facility
- caretakers are just shody people hired to keep the place more hush
- the 'zoo' experimented on animals to give them human features
- the 'zoo' also experimented on people to give them animal features
- in gaining human faces, the animals became sentient and spiteful
Maybe this is just me, but the count having wolf ears is so out of place (or idk maybe bram stoker's dracula had wolf ears too, haven't read it)
