I don"t think Cirrus father ever hated him.....from the flashbacks it seems like he did try but Cirrus was a difficult child.
he's still pretty cold towards Cirrus when they're alone, he's only pretending to smile while giving Cirrus's friends a lift. And the step mom still goes to the parent's meeting or smt when Cirrus had that huge fight at school, but it doesn't show here.

what i mean is, he looks like finally replying to cirrus and actually talking instead of beating and ignoring cirrus. well, cirrus used to be rebellious and now he's talking more from his heart, guess both are having development (the father still sucks with no redemption , i hope cirrus leavez home for good after he graduate from school)

Yes, the colorization is on the X gene, & to get that unique colorization seen in calico you need 2 Xs. It's possible for a XXY male, but that is a rare genetic anomaly (called Klinefelter's in humans--the ml obv didn't have this based on his presentation, but it would've been cool to see ngl)
