Yes, the colorization is on the X gene, & to get that unique colorization seen in calico you need 2 Xs. It's possible for a XXY male, but that is a rare genetic anomaly (called Klinefelter's in humans--the ml obv didn't have this based on his presentation, but it would've been cool to see ngl)

I don"t think Cirrus father ever hated him.....from the flashbacks it seems like he did try but Cirrus was a difficult child.
he's still pretty cold towards Cirrus when they're alone, he's only pretending to smile while giving Cirrus's friends a lift. And the step mom still goes to the parent's meeting or smt when Cirrus had that huge fight at school, but it doesn't show here.
