To answer your question (even though I'm not ace myself)
i see it in a way! The fact he doesn't see the importance of physical touch on the same plane as loving someone is a great implication of him being ace!
On another note, it's still an implication or an hc before we can gather more info about it. His character revolves around the discovery of what loves means as someone who didn't really care(or notice) it at all during the times he should be prone to it (around middle school to first year highschool for them) because he's really studious.
I'm ace but also aro so maybe not the best to answer that question... With what se've seen so far I do think it's implied he may be on the ace spectrum (demi or ace). The thoughts he has about how other people feel love are some I've had (very often) before I finally understood that being ace/aro is a thing that exists (heteronormativity is a Pain). In the end the author will be the one to tell how it is, but meanwhile I'll indulge and take joy in being able to relate with a character's thoughts on love lol
I am under the aroace + gay umbrella. I believe that Hirano is either under the aroace or Demi umbrella , with the need to be in control of romantic interactions. Sexuality is far more vast and complex than anyone can even fathom , and there isn’t always an obvious label for someone. With all that said , though , I think sensei is doing a FANTASTIC job at different lgbt rep. Hirano is so beautifully crafted as a character and explored very realistic thinking and reactions to what is happening to him.
Aroace people can still be in romantic relationships , forgot to add. If they’re under the umbrella , their love just looks a little different. For me , I am kind of repulsed by kissing or anything sexual , but I would love to date someone and hold hands and such. It may be the same for Hirano ; he doesn’t like the super lovey stuff , but he still likes showing his affection by ruffling Kagi’s hair or spending time with him and talking.
