I don't understand the ''continuation'' thing with the crescent moon. What's the meaning of it?

My interpretation is that it's like a Korean word game where the last syllable of the word last said will be used for a new word, and the chain continues. So in this manga, mikazuki ends with ki, which starts kisu, which ends with su, and can start suki. I'm not good at explaining, but hope you get what I'm trying to say ( ̄∇ ̄")

I was crying throughout the whole story by imagining how hard it was for those who live during the war. How hard it was to send the ones you love on the battlefield not knowing when they'll come back and even if they will. How they have to face the war and witnessed everything but unable to change the outcome of it.
I like how he stops smoking in his house to make the one he loves comfortable in his house
