If you go back to the begging of the series you can read the lore again, the events of 19 days in school are like a "flashback". At some point in this lore, Jian yi disapears and he Tian leaves to study abroad. But when Jian yi disappear he was just xixi's friends, they weren't boyfriends like he Tian and mo. So Jian yi comes back after years and met Xixi again, the situation is awkward because Xixi missed him and he doesn't know why he disappeared, and too Jian Yi had already confessed. Anyway, Jian Yi lore is not full developed yet, and in the flashbacks of school times he was only a friend of Xixi.
I'm not saying that all of the things you said are wrong, but if they're excited about a new one, isn't it just like getting excited about a new manhwa rather than a new couple? They might as well just read a new manhwa rather than wasting time reading about the first couple if they don't like it. After all, they said they're only here for the second couple, so the first couple doesn't need to be there.

And they don't even get that much "screen time" to be honest.

The proposal of this manhwa is to present the daily life of the characters. It's not only about romance, is about being them, living etc. There's no point creating a separated manhwa for minrye and kyungin when they are parte of yugun and Ian lives and vice versa.

I'm not against to the second couple. I love them as well as how i love the first couple (as i stated above). What icks me the most are the readers who ONLY reads the manwha for the second couple. I can understand readers who likes the second couple more, but blatantly stating that they're only reading the manwha for them?? Bruh
