I assumed allen was in love with him since in the novel chris read he seemed to be choosing the first husband over him any time. but after reading it again it wasn't mentioned anywhere that allen loves him... I guess it's a political marriage? where the value of the first husband is much higher than chris that's why he's a priority.
oh and chris and his child in the original story must have been killed so they won't have the right for the throne or any of the heritage!
