The ML is a PoS but at least his family background allows us to conclude decades of extremely high expectations paired while also being told how superior he is to everyone have turned him into a control freak that considers manipulating everyone around him as the only way to get what he wants.
ML is almost certainly working some kind of bullshit "cant show weakness" and "Im hurting you to protect you" angle. But at least there is an in-universe way to frame why his psyche is fucked.
Yejun on the other hand is a spineless crybaby because the story needs him to be, so he can perpetuate this neverending spiral of poor communication. That guy was just born an extra pliable bottom that will never stop pining for an abuser while flip-flopping between internalizing insecurities and letting them out in an unproductive way.
