nah it wasn't all attachment, yeah, they're likeable characters, but really it was the inconsistency with the character that's more triggering, like the ml was not a "nice guy" tho, he was legit so stupid/naive that even his brother was concerned for his safety and wellbeing. Don't act like the author was pulling a nico-avocado-2-steps ahead bs with this, when all they really wanted was a last minute ragebait, even on the freaking chapter before the finale you can clearly see how different the tone of the story was, and on the actual SA scene it was fairly quick too (at least) as if the author didn't even want it but needed to put it still. I think the author read far too many comments of those who said uke should just come clean coz the seme's so dumb and nice he'll most likely forgive him, so they did this instead without much planning and just took the hype as compensation in exchange for backlash lol just a game theory of course, I dunno what really happened.
