I love this series. So much. I kind of discontinued this back in 2022 and picking it up again was a decision i never regretted. It may not be the best, but is one of the best historical fantasy manhwa out there.
What i like most about this manhwa is the dynamic of the both regina and theor, while i dont like the gag (where she would beat him), seeing their relationship develops into a great brother-sister relationship gave such an endearing feeling to me as someone who has a brother. And i really, realllyyy liked regina most in the manhwa (we don’t talk abt theor i’m not gonna favourite him bc hes my son and my son has taken over my heart).
Regina isn’t just a girlboss manhwatok makes her out to be, she’s more than that. She loves someone unconditionally. Kindness has always been rooted in her, deep into her soul. She has a sacrificial nature and would sacrifice herself if it means the happiness of her loved ones. Yet at the same time, she’s not naive. She knows the limit to her kindness, she’s not blindly kind. She knows her worth. And thay what makes her special. Though season 2 kinda toned down her character a bit:/ still enjoyed it though!
one of the greatest flaw of this series imo, is the romance part. Her love interest is nothing more than an ikemen mascot yet the fans still eat it up. The romance was bland and distasteful. It serves and gives nothing. Pretty couple? Yes. But there was nothing interesting about it. I liked the ML, but he’s a very UNINTERESTING character. the story couldve gone fine without the romance. So i dont get the hype that much.
overall, i love the manhwa. absolutely loved it! I loved the antagonists and the complexity of the characters i think it was nicely written! 9/10! Gonna miss my baby theor.(づ￣ ³￣)づ
The romance really is like one of those stories aimed at guys where they just attach a pretty and big boobed girl as the female lead and call it a day lol XD
What’s sad is that this trope clearly works both ways when it really shouldn’t.
Yes! I think this manhwa would go perfectly well with regina ending up single, but independent and influential woman in the empire. She’s so inspiring. It’s just so sad to see the author go down the path of malewife x girlboss kind of thing. Infuriates me so much when this manhwa has soo many potential. Her character by itself already shines and is impactful in her own ways, so i dont get putting this ikemen mascot in the picture. because, apparently, most villainess or historical manhwas are like that? They wrote interesting female characters then boom— an unnecessary and bland love interest because romance is needed when the story revolves around a female character. im still sooo mad about this part the romance wasnt even developed PROPERLY!!
There are def a lot of stories where the male lead is kinda bland(and I only get invested if the art style is good cause pretty privilege is a real thing lol). That’s why I get so happy when the male lead is good cause it makes the story so much better lol XD
But seriously, if this story was gender bent, I would be so annoyed by the male lead, cause he literally does nothing except be eye candy lol XD I realize I def have double standards, cause I wouldn’t stand for it if this was a male-targeted series lol)
it’s so amazing to see Akane’s impact on other characters especially those who had been in a competition with her before. She is passionate about what she is doing (rakugo) and has talent earned from hardwork that losing to her only spark their (side characters) passion in Rakugo and motivates them to pushing themselves to go beyond their limit. It is just so interesting to see Akane and the long hair guy’s and the pretty girl’s dynamic with her. No animosity, just pure competitiveness.
from the start to the end, it was still beautifully written. I love this.

no guys actually the company used a criminals body to over up the fact that bona is the actual kingfisher because the police was getting a bit TOO NOSY and they just have to cover it up..heh
