To be honest this is my fourth time reading/watching this, and it's only just now occurred to me just how much I only care about Rihito, and how much i dont give a FUCK about ANY of the other characters
Its to the point that reading this physically hurt by the end, because he was never EVER told simple words like "i like you" "are you okay/how are you" "i love you", not even by the fucking cop, or any other "parental figure" that existed (NONE), and not by any friends throughout childhood either. because he spent childhood in a fucking box.
And even then, even when all those fuckers in the story going to help him learned about this, not even an ounce of sympathy or love was shown. Bruh theres no way you learn that he was locked in a white cellar and forced to "heal" people until he had to have been at least 13 or 14, and that thats the ONLY THING keeping him alive, and then you go "yeah i really dont like you, fuck you man" IMMEDIATELY.
Like its physically painful how nobody shows him any concern at all in the whole manga, like, never, only when he goes "i need saving" OUT LOUD does anyone even CONSIDER that he needs help (NOBODY IN THIS MANGA FUCKING COMMUNICATES, AND IK THAT GOES FOR RIHITO AS WELL, BUT I GIVE RIHITO A PASS ON ACCOUNT OF HIM BEING A SLAVE FOR A CULT FOR ALL OF HIS FORMATIVE YEARS). AND DONT FUCKING SAY THE COP DID EITHER BECAUSE THE MANGA KEPT REPEATING THAT AWFUL FUCKING LINE "are you a perpetrator or a victim??" MAN FUCK YOU
To be honest with you, sure, the other guys are tragic, but in terms of trauma olympics, hes a 23 times gold medal champion compared to those barely winning bronze.
And they ALL receive more delicacy and care than he does, EVER.
Hes got a terrible personality(?) and is pushy (creepy too sorry man), so in that case you can say its "deserved", but like, you think the chick and the scammer have better personalities? dont FUCK with me
SOMEONE SHOW THIS MAN UNCONDITIONAL LOVE
also. whats that FREAKSHOW FATHER's deal?? fucker didnt even have a reason to go tweaker mode, yet he stole a mans reason for living and forced a child to help him commit mass murder sprees?? whats a fucking loser, literally uncalled for, FUCK that guy

if youre on some tweaker shit and unmedicated, think twice before reading this, the beginning 20 or so chapters of this is like, one of the most genuinely realistic/triggering/well written things i have EVER read, i know for a fact the author is on some antipsychotics for sure, and now i gotta call my damn pharmacist </3

im seeing all the comments ab tabin, and im only on chapter 13 or so, so im more worried that this webtoon will completely ruin itself for me and somehow have chan turn from being fully gay to being bi and liking sami...
if it does this i will lose all hope, and not bc i want it to be bl or whatever, but because thats part of his character, part of him is that he liked the black haired dude, and if he just randomly starts liking sami and acts as a rival to his previous crush, itll just be like in gooner mangas (harem), where a girl completely switches from being in love with one guy to being in love with the protagonist because what, because hes strong? so lame, they better not do some stupid shit like that in this manga, because i really like it
im trying my best to enjoy this manga, but the whole time im on edge because im like 70 percent certain theyll pull this bullshit out and it will really ruin it for me

my ocd got the best of me and i skipped to chapter 60 and what do you know hes in love with sami, ok pack it up the story is no longer interesting, completely ruined, that premise was interesting before but now theyre just gonna go for this cliche ass harem route, been there done that, im so so so so so disappointed.

i literally said not bc i want it to be bl, i dont want chan and him to end up together, like, at all, i dont even want any sort of cute scene of them together, but part of the story is that he has a friend thats interested in him, and part of the story that makes it interesting is that the mc has a friend who shes rivals with, in an interesting way.
like, literally, i said "not bc i want it to be bl or whatever, but because thats part of his character"

i absolutely understand that 16 is young, but it is also usually old enough to know if you like men or women, especially if you feel bold enough to confess openly to others that youre gay.
If theyre not 16, my bad, but it still doesnt make the whole premise boring, weve seen it a million times, love triangle over and over and over, and the thing that made this not just another highschool love triangle was the idea, for me, that there was a strange relationship between chan and them, that was interesting, it would be the same if the genders were swapped, or mixed around and it was a gay/lesbian love story:
someone in the position that usually acts as a stalking horse for the mc/love interest in a love triangle is actually a character who could never act their role in that way, for either side, but they still have love for one or the other characters <- this is an interesting premise...
this character falling in love with the mc just like the rest of her harem <- this is not an interesting premise

be so serious... just because theyre pg doesnt mean this isn't major league wrong... does everyone know the original meaning of the term grooming???
not only is it super predatory age-wise, its also super predatory as a fan-idol parasocial relationship. I literally refuse to accept any rebuttal that starts with "its fiction" or "its a story", as thats just a dismissal of what stories do in our society.
Stories reflect the authors worldview and inform readers on how the world ought to be. Should children be getting groomed by adults? Is it ok just because the leading romantic partner is cute or hot or silly? Or because it seems like he simply doesnt know any better? Is it okay just because the protagonist is getting what she wants?
The story also spins a narrative where adults cannot normally tell that someone underage is a minor. Most adults can tell if someone is simply under the age of 22. This could be overlooked, but the story is targeted towards young girls like the main character, who may inadvertently take these messages to heart, and put themselves in harms way. This could be refuted by saying "oh well, when i was a kid i wasnt influenced by what i read or watched", which first of all is not true even if it wasnt obvious, and second of all how can you guarantee that your classmates or friends are not influenced by what they consume as well?
The book is LITERALLY grooming young girls, and the amount of people pointing it out is absolutely not an issue of only targeting this book because of the ml, this book gets more attention and stands out most because it presents itself as the most innocent, and has a more compelling hook to it.
Things like their "age gap" and social issues could all be written off "because its a story, its fiction", only if it were being targeted towards adults with the right genre being applied (IT IS NOT OK FOR ADULTS TO BE READING THIS EITHER UNLESS A MAJOR TONE CHANGE WAS MADE). If the story actually took its audience to heart.
When i was around 12-14 i remember actively searching for manga just like this. Literally looking up "age gap" and "wrestler", LITERALLY i was the target audience, and im sure if i had found it when i was searching, i would have put it at the top of my list of favorites. Theres a lot of manga I put there that when I look back at them now, i feel a lot of pain, because they were absolutely unacceptable to be reading, period. I dont want young me reading this shit, and just because I wouldnt go searching for it now, does absolutely not mean it was okay for me to be searching for it when i was the target audience.
Its not just not ok for kids, its a dangerous mindset for adults to have too, that reading this is ok. And im not even that sensitive ab these things fr, i read anything
may this love find me <3
