I mean someone can be a good person and still do questionable things for the people they care about. It's not he can either be evil or completely innocent. And good character with morals doesn't equal naivety.
Pretty sure he's not the level of naïve you're talking about. And he did do questionable things, and he did tell Larissa "then burn it for me" thinking she never would, but in the end he underestimated her derangement. And new updates (and even old ones, tbh) show how he's willing to through away his dignity for the people he cares about. He's not prideful or petty or spiteful or stubborn. He knows what he needs to do and he does it, as long as he doesn't do it while hurting anyone else.
He is a man who has his own core values, as we all do, and they're the reason he couldn't cheat Larissa after she helped him escape and say "nah bitch u believed when I said I'd marry you? Lol" but instead he felt the need to stick to his word like a man, because he's the one who led to the fire indirectly.
I'm honestly surprised by the comment section every time someone says Alphonso is stupid or passive or naïve or boring. Istg every time someone says that an angel loses its wings... Are we even reading the same manhwa? Because I can see this man try every time and with every new challenge to break free of the shackles his father and his upbringing have tied him with, and yet still within the lines of being a dutiful prince to the country and people he's loyal to because he genuinely loves.
He'd become bolder and bolder with every challenge and the Alphonso now isn't the one at the start, and it's baffling to realize people somehow cannot see that.
Anyway I guess people are just too used to red flags and cunning men in manhwas that seeing one who sticks to a moral conduct as much as he can makes them deem him boring and useless. It's a matter of taste, really.
I mean we all get it that he's struggling, but there is a desire ( as seen in the comment section in general ) for him to push his boundaries even further. Alphonso is moral and with a good heart, but whether he breaks character or not he ends up in a shitty situation. It really is the authors fault. I see. I understand your pov and I'll have to agree with it. While idm him at this moment, it'd be good to see him try and push his boundaries a little. It's probably the tasteful angst of someone facing the fact the world is harsh and will force them to shed some of their morals because people around you would never appreciate them anyway, and being a good just person in our world means being faced with hardships.
It seems lately that this is the direction the author is trying to reach with him so maybe you'll get to see this soon! Hopefully so.
