It would be hard to invalidate his feelings here. He grew up with the goal of doing whatever his father says, but he also grew up to crave his family's love. So this one's realistic in so many ways because you can never quickly erase the fact that he once wanted his father's genuine love. He may be adopted but he did feel he had a family, even only on papers at the least. (Sorry if my English is bad)
