just before the very end, an zhe sacrifices himself but since he's a mushroom, he comes back(well there's a reason), so it's a happy end after that angst. Also the novel ends or atleast the side story i believe include the scene about going to An Ze 's ( the og human) so it was a bittersweet as well
Yes, his spore grows into him (his appearance) which also contained An ze's memorise (maybe bcoz his spore is a part of himself)
Will also get to knw why bcoz in the next further chapter An ze finds his spore where the people were experimenting on it. Plus (f it was soo cute) his spore was always attracted to lu feng even though an ze was infront of it.
