I hate this. My heart aches for the rest of the chapters after Chika desperately ask Hotaka to say i love you back... fck fck I hate Hotaka for being so oblivious. I hate Masato for taking advantage of the situation.
Chika ask desperately for something that he knows he won't have. It was underhanded and manipulating. Hotaka is oblivious at first, but then he notice when he starts to wonder if Chika said 'I love you'. He was clear from the start and Chika knows. He knows Hokata well and used that knowledge to his advantage.
What did you want him to do? Lie? It won't do any of them good.
Masato didn't take advantage. He didn't have that in mind. It is shown throughout the manga the main differences between Chika and Masato and one of them is Chika being manipulating while Masato being more straightforward. He didn't go after Hosaka to take advantage of the situation but because he saw that Hosaka was not okay
