I get that she wants to protect the children in the orphanage, but it feels insincere to use that as the reason to make it right to his son. I know she loves her son, but she should have noticed the signs early on. She should have paid more attention to him when she was still alive. It's understandable that she couldn't because of taking care of the kids, but she shouldn't blame his son for what he feels while managing it. Like their final conversation was still about the orphanage, not "Take care of yourself" or something the like. Of course you can't help it if he harbors hatred after experiencing all of that and project it to the kids. I know it's wrong, but where could he vent this frustration other than there.
