I saw someone comment that this is based on a true story and they know this because they end the end notes of chapter 5.5. So I read the end notes too, and I’m so glad I did. Honestly I really disliked chapter 5 before learning it was based on a true story. Knowing this happened irl obviously makes it believable (I obviously lack optimism in relationships with strange circumstances working out)
