I don't know when he had found out about the kid. My best guess is that if this omegaverse has betas manifesting as omegas late in the game, then he would have guessed early on that Noah is his mate, but would NOT have known about Noah's pregnancy. Also, as ppl have mentioned, there was that text/s Noah had sent him prior to coming to his place and IF they had been FWB without Ian simultaneously F-ING other people, then the ONLY REASONABLE guess would have been Noah, although at the time prior to the rutting sex, Ian and Noah had BOTH ONLY KNEW Noah to be a beta, and OVERALL, Ian has ONLY socialized w/ alphas and betas. So, I assumed he was stumped for a little. Also, Noah had washed the sheets before running away. Not sure if to erase evidence or just a clean-freak, or just taking care to clean up because it's Ian?!? Idk. As far as the child goes, if he hadn't LOOKED for Noah, then he WOULDN'T HAVE KNOWN about the child.

Basically Noah had left (for home because his student Visa had expired) and then kept quiet about having been turned, which would have indicated that he was the omega Ian had marked. The marking was neither of their faults, since the beta got turned into an omega during the alpha's rut, which as not done with Ian's consciousness, Ian being high on rutting sex hormones and can't think clearly and giving into his animalistic instincts to mate and mark and impregnate an omega. Ian hadn't planned on having sex with Noah after they had broken up their FWB relationship. The ONLY reason he did is because Noah had shown up at his place during his rutting period and got turned into an omega. IF he had remained a beta, the most that would have happened is some wild sex, not a marking, and no impregnating and hence no baby. Contrary to what some ppl are saying, Ian had NOT DROPPED the inhibtor injector ON PURPOSE. Noah had picked up the dropped to return it to Ian because he had wanted to see him "one-last-time". He had a choice to return it to him after class, on campus, but waited til he can go see Ian alone at his place. So it was just bad timing on his part. He didn't know Ian is rutting (and apparently didn't know what an alpha in rut is like) and Ian hadn't expected (anyone?) Noah but he had shown up out of the blue. Ian was high on sex hormones, was not lucid, and hadn't checked his phone to know that Noah was coming.

As far as the baby goes:

If he HAD known right away then for sure, why hadn't he come?!? But the MOST he would have known, is that he had MATE-bonded w/ Noah. Fast fwd to about 4 years later, the baby got sick and Noah had to go in search of a remedy for SiYeon's illness, which he had found out to be a genetic disorder that ONLY affects HYPER DOMINANTS, and Ian is a hyper dominant alpha, so it's fair to say that the disease came from his side of the family. Ian had said, the baby is obviously a hyper dominant alpha, although he won't be presenting his second gender until puberty, because that disease ONLY affects HYPER DOMINANTS.

Since the baby didn't get sick until four years later, no one aside from Noah, and his alpha friend, (and the doctors) had known about the pregnancy, until Noah had to go in search of a cure. Anyways, because the genetic defect was so rare, there were no cure at the time and research is being done exclusively by Ian's parents'/ family's company only. Since the disorder is so rare, ppl in that field keeps track of ppl who are afflicted with this disease closely. Since Ian's family is leading this research it would have only been a matter of time before they had found out they have a child of their blood who is a hyper dominant alpha. This is also a time during which Ian would have found out that Noah has a child, since the disorder is so rare and only affects HYPER DOMINANTS in his family. So, he would have known about the baby four years after the rutting sex, when they had just graduated, and the last time they had been intimate. Then, another year has passed. So he had known about the baby maybe a little over a year. The reason why he didn't come right away could be because of the inheritance issue. It could be because he had felt the time is right for him to settle down. It could be he's waiting for Noah to come to him for help. It could be a NUMBER of things. But when Noah HADN'T come to him for help, he had decided to GO TO NOAH INSTEAD, seeing as to how Noah had been struggling to make ends meet, working over time to pay for the medical bills, and being stressed out and having little time to care for himself and the baby, and the baby suffering from taking low quality meds with intense side effects. Who knows, it could a number of things. And no, he didn't plan to mark an omega, any omega AT ALL. Dude hadn't even wanted a relationship, let alone a mate bond, AND a child, at the age of ~22 years old, as a college student.
