You can’t expect Silas to “act like a grown up” when he literally never was raised to be one…like his only “parental” figure was his brother who LATCHED OUT on him. i totally agree the author was going for this effect on purpose. i think Silas' character development is pretty realistic and i totally understand his character... bc someone just like this is literally ruining my life rn because i made the mistake of understanding a little too hard. everyone's hating on Silas but i'm over here just wanting Arthur to model better choices than mine lmao
