ngl, i was extremely scared by kaya to read the ups again, and extremely glad, nasu said let me hear "you". But i still hated the mc getting taken advantage of, using that to escape reality. The parents not giving two fucks about those signs, and this back n forth of mc saying yes to both kaya n nasu.
the characters are written good, all off them hoshii, nasu, kaya, n mc. I just hate manipulation part. Also I gave this a chance even with step-sibs tag, but god i hate kaya forcing himself on to mc, and hitting her with the "you can stop me if you don't want this". very well and damn straight knowing mc can't explain herself, and communicate with others properly.
this entire story is just summed ass annoying and whiny lil bitch uke forces this stranger into his love affair, trauma dumps, and makes moves on him. also using SA as a plot device, cliche saw it coming, and hella unnecessary

(i think they fucked around this time) they talk it out kinda like you chose to stay in this world for me. kinda thing.

penny warns the duke dure brainwashed period as a hint to look in the teacup to see if yvvone has a reflection, dark wizard, or entities dont have reflection. duke listens to her and finds that yvvone reflection isnt in the teacup n the brainwashings slowly come undone. by this pennys half moved into the palace n what not.
her n kalli go back n forth cuz kalli will be crowned as the emperor and penny will be the empress.
but penny whose helped by the archeology lady (forgot the name) wants to travel around to do field work and archeology research. during said research one day they go to a village. where the tradition goes the pregnant women eat this specific leaves which are extremely bitter normally but if you are pregnant they taste hella sweet.
after several days of not being able to stomach food and vomiting, penny decides to sneakily ask the village wise woman, i think she tells penny to find the mandrake leafs if i am not wrong from the tradition, which grow near a cliff. penny goes to find them i think hella early in the am, and turns out theres too much mana or miasma something explosion which they were researching. due to increase in monsters. penny couldnt proprrly use her magic and has a encounter with monsters i think. so euclis who lost his memories (i forgot how) keeps shadowing penny to protect her, helps her. penny suddenly gets scared if he wanted her to be his master again.
he also threathens penny with a knife at her throat asking how she knows him. they have a backforth and he backs off after saving her for the the last time n dissappear. in between as fight gets worse kallisto appears. theres also a closing arc scene where leila basically holds wizard kids hostage and penny too thru brainwashed euclis, and queens side, before kalli got crowned and they basically find the og royal ancestor a golden dragon. that is laying asleep in palace hidden basement and penny unlocks the power to fight with leila kalli lands more or less final blow and gains the right to the throne not before passing out from the force of the power tho.
so after few years they have a daughter who dreams of penny leaving , where pennys soul goes back to the room where her OG body is and sees how her OG brothers and dad sittung across from her body with OG cancer on life support. they dont initially recognize her soul. and question who she is why she got there while penny is half way removing her OG body life support. she just tells them they dont deserve her.
OG fam who now recognize, her apoligize saying they were sorry and beg her no the take off the life support, penny takes it off anyways killing off her OG body, flatlining it and goes back to other world to her daughter and kallisto

the author can catch these hands like what the actual fuck. No they praise reirin whether shes in her body or keigetsu, and keigetsu only gets limelight when reirin takes over, Its like keigetsu cant or isnt allowed to do anything on her own. Girl got the most fucked up life, and got manipulated into the swap, and no matter how bad her situation gets ppl still want to kill her. All of them can go fuck off. Ya reirin worked hard dor her talents but so the fuck what! Like ya shes like omg keigetsu you can do it too, you can conquer your foes but like girl each times, shes just about back in her own body, and about to something where ppl will acknowledge her you fuck in swap bodies with her steal the god damn show.
she gets keigetsu's strength n gets to keep her talents. I hate the way they paint reirin like shes some god saving keigetsu's soul all of them can fuck off
edit - do i still ship them as they are one of my favorite tropes (looks innocent but can tease x tsundere)? yes, yes i do. they work as a ship, individually idk.

also not sure if u ship them (reikeigetsu) or not but like as a couple i ship, as individuals idk. it feels like the author direction is set sort of objective lens whose focus revolves around reirin, while bg story focus is keigetsu mainly as canon fodder.
i relate to this. i was thinking how they kept letting reirin get all the praise & love but keigetsu is still nowhere. she still is not allowed to do anything on her own despite the fact that shes changing. she has all this qi & yet nothing she can do with it expect swap boddies?? i hate it soo much, i wanna see her shine, wanna see her achieve!!!
plus didnt she have a lot of training with the qi? idk if she lost it but i feel, she honestly cudve maide it hella big on her own with being caged in the palace, she cudve save the world, had her own clan, heck she cudve rivaled the emperor, she cudve even became a immortal
U TOOK THE WORDS OUT OF MY MOUTH!! although i still enjoy the story i HATE how kei is given literal scraps towards her progression with anything and how her struggles are belittled by rei. the mary sue trope could’ve been done well if didnt fully rely on rei being this perfect godlike being who everyone loves- but instead made her be bad at things too, be empathetic and understanding towards kei, and had characters not drawn to her automatically
its annoying how boundless rei’s luck and love is, while someone who’s faced abuse/isolation/grooming/manipulation since childhood is seen as terrible for lashing out and being terrible when that’s all she knows. she was never given proper attention, care, or guidance and i get her frustration tbh. imo i do ship them, but i can’t deny the blatant disregard rei has for kei’s background. its unfair that switching bodies leads to zero growth for keis independence/strength as the clan maiden, as she’s only given praise from rei’s actions while they swapped
yess this coupled with the fact. how everyones character did a 180 for the worst when they found out it was kei in rei's body.
they went for literal murder and even the kei's servant. You'd think if they've been to gether for a long time the servant would somewhat understand, the master's actions. but she shes no different than others towards kei. Now this diesnt excuse kei treating the servant bad but idk about the servant girl either. She turned on kei way too quick.
also the cousin and the guard guy being creepy and obssessive.
right i agree!! no one ever tries to understand her and finds it easy to take part in the harassment, which is there entire reason she lashes out in the first place- as she can’t trust anyone. its why i love how rei is genuinely on her side! btw another reason i like the ship is how rei enjoys that kei never tries to smother or keep rei to herself like her other companions
and its so sad!! i don’t even blame kei for wanting an easy life (on the surface level). other than being coddled/suffocated by care, rei kept up with her rigorous studies because she was naturally gifted at everything while compared to kei’s situation there’s barely any downsides to being showered in peoples affection all the time. when reading i found it REALLY hard to empathize with rei other than her illness because all the swap did was prove she would still have it easy despite kei’s conditions- to me it belittled how harsh people were to kei and made me frustrated people only started looking at/being drawn to kei when she was outspoken like rei and not herself! the affection or admiration keis body receives only coming from rei’s usage of her skin is so upsetting
