basically, the conversation between armin and eren at the beginning is something that happened before eren died, and it took place in the paths. yk how eren has the ability to speak to all eldians through the paths? well he used that power and visited all the previous members of 104th squad before they came to kill him in marley so that he could explain why he did the rumbling and to say his goodbyes to them. then, eren took away their memories of that conversation and set it so that they would only remember it AFTER he was killed and the curse of ymir was broken. he did this so that nothing would stop them from killing him, because ultimately, his entire goal behind the rumbling was to set up himself as the villain and his friends as the heroes who killed him and saved the world. this way, the rest of the world would be indebted to his friends and they would not be killed.

as for the curse of ymir, it was broken when mikasa killed eren. all the people who had previously turned into titans (jean, connie, gabi) turned back to human and the power of the nine titans was also taken away, so no more titan shifters. this is meant to solidify the fact that eldians are no longer a threat to the rest of the world.

as for why ymir specifically chose mikasa, we do not know for sure, as eren himself says that its ymir's own will and we dont know why. but i saw an interesting theory on tiktok that i think makes sense. yk how ymir was in love w king fritz? well obviously the type of love isayama is alluding to is stockholm syndrome, so in other words a very toxic love. but this love is the reason why ymir continued to be a slave to king fritz, even in death, which is why the curse of the nine titans continued for so long. because the power of the titans was her connection w king fritz, and it was his will that the power was used against the rest of the world to empower eldians alone. the theory is that ymir needed someone to show her what true, unconditional love is, and that person is mikasa. mikasa and eren are basically parallels to ymir and king fritz? bc if we compare what eren and king fritz were doing, they were both using their titan powers against the rest of the world. ymir allowed fritz to do it bc her love was unhealthy, but mikasa showed her what true love was when she sacrificed her love for eren and killed him, rather than allowing him to continue the rumbling. i think thats why mikasa was chosen (emphasis on THINK). there is also an interesting parallel between helos and armin, as they both ended up taking the credit to saving the world.

anyways, after eren died we see all the ppl who ganged up to help stop the rumbling (except for levi, gabi, falco, and mikasa) became ambassadors for peace between the allied nations and paradis (now called nation of eldia, historia is still queen) since they are the ones who saved the world. paradis has formed a new military from the remnants of the jaegerists and are focusing on strengthening their army as they fear the rest of the world will retaliate against them in the near future. armin and co are now on their way to paradis to work on negotiations and hopefully come up with a peace treaty between paradis and the allied nations, which is why we see them on a ship.
