I’m so sick and annoyed at hero summoning scenes where the king “welcomes” the “heroes” and asks them to help. Like… you do realize this is outright kidnapping, right? And why should “heroes” risk their lives helping a kingdom that has nothing to do with them? I’ve seen summoned victims get confused, excited or scared about the summoning, but I’d REALLY like to see a summoned victim get angry and directly kill the king/magician/princess/saintess responsible for the summoning.
I just started reading this today and I’m currently on chapter 82. This is really interesting and really funny, but I think the running joke about Lloyd not being good looking has been taken too far. Lord Namaran literally said “I’d be ashamed to have a son-in-law who looked like him”. Seriously??? I mean, I’m fine with everyone assuming Javier is Lloyd at first glance because Javier is way flashier, but I think the joke should end there. Heck, them being slightly disappointed that Javier isn’t Lloyd is still acceptable, because everyone would prefer the person they admire to have both looks and skills to only having skills. But them being disgusted, ashamed and repulsed is taking it too far. Lloyd isn’t even ugly, he’s just slightly plain looking, but that isn’t even a bad thing. Plus, even if he WERE ugly, it still wouldn’t justify people’s attitudes about his looks. Like everything he’s accomplished is nullified simply because he’s not super handsome, so he’s outright shameful regardless of how smart, capable and kind he is. GTFO. And the girl crying like she was about to be married off to a monster wasn’t funny either.
Sorry, it’s just that around these few chapters all characters keep making it seem like Lloyd is straight up Zhu Bajie / Cho Hakkai and it’s really getting on my nerves.
I’m sorry but the art makes it kinda difficult to me to understand certain parts. There are many panels where I can’t understand the drawings at all. Then I went and read the comments and ah… the spoilers… well, it’s not like it was unexpected but still… *sighs*
Recently I’ve come to an awful realization. It’s that the older and the more I read, the pickier I become. I hate it because it’s so difficult for me to find stuff to read because of how picky I’ve become. I get annoyed so easily and I drop so many stories because of it. And I guess it doesn’t help that I’m a binge reader, so I let stories marinate and read over 100 chapters at a time, so it makes it easier to get annoyed if the story has certain tendencies. *sighs*
Ok… I had this in my “want to read” list for the longest time. I was looking for something to read and I decided to read this. 2 chapters in and I was already like “ugh… I’m not feeling it” so I came out to read the comments and thank god I did. Just the mention of an arrogant, overbearing and annoying girl was enough to keep me away, but not only that but MC being a pushover is a massive turnoff for me. Also, I like it when MC is secretly OP but I don’t like it when he’s overly so. Like, they need to show they’re not to be messed with when necessary instead of letting people walk all over them. But I read the comments and I see that he’s just going to let people do whatever they want. Ugh… I’m not reading this.
I shouldn't have come back now. I should've left it marinating for longer *sighs*
But coming back and re-reading from the beginning made me realize even more how brilliant the comedy is. At first, I didn't love the art. I mean, it's not bad and it's not ugly. I just thought it wasn't very cool looking. But only by reading a bit further did I see how funny it is and only after reading it for the second time did I actually realize how brilliant the comedic timing and the delivery is. The art might not be "cool" but it's freaking hilarious. The story and the action are also insanely good. Ugh... I'll have to marinate again...
The pacing is so off. They’re already ok so soon after Robert’s death? And this guy is falling for his friend’s widow so soon? Nothing makes much sense. Like… after your legs give out, your first idea should be to ask the grown man to help you up, no?
You know the drill.
Stories w/adorable children I would kill for
