Yes, but if Furuya is the MC and we have Sawamura as support, then people would want to cheer for an energy beam and hard-working like Sawamura. His personality could potentially overshadowed Furuya’s. This is usually the reason why MCs are made to have positive personas on shounen while rivals have a calm aura. It’s really sad the author don’t want to give Sawamura some sort of plot armor tho...
