As we know most asshole tops got depressing crazy backstory, it might've been usual or not suprising anymore but y'all it's not overused or overplayed. Having those back story is literally the roots of how they act, especially getting exposed to things a young kid shouldn't have can have a big impact on how they grow up. Traumatized kids can bring it until their adulthood unless treated with therapy, this also happends IRL. It's still not an excuse for jaekyungs abuses(goes to other tops too) but being abused, starved to death, seeing your dad do drugs and drink alcohol as a 6 yr old says why he's like this growing up. I don't really see these as a sob story, that depends if the reader felt bad and forgave him or shi but rather this explains his or their character more.

The ending is not sad. It like a warm shower after you walk through the storm for so long that after you took that shower and finally be able to relax on your warm bed. You start crying. It was so good.
