Nope, I don't see it. Are there missing pages? Because I actually see Kyon acting 'less' (if I had to pick between the two) out of character. He's reiterating what he said, before, that he doesn't want to leave his master's side...? He is using the only method that Ryan and the others have left open for him that would ensure that they could still stay together. Saying that he's acting out of character because of that is like saying a normally gentle black woman is acting out of character after suffering years of abuse, racism and misogyny by hitting out at the white people around her who made her suffer that.
